2008 Toy Con

While it's not as big as the American comic and toy conventions, the 2008 Toy Con at the SM Mega Trade Hall was still a fun trip for all. While the comics on sale were few and even disappointing in quality, the toys available were great. I saw some old classmates there with their kids but I honestly couldn't tell who had a better time -- them or their sons. I'll speak for myself -- I had a blast.

This is a sign on a carinderia in Project 4 that I've seen for some time now. And I always have to stifle a guffaw every time I see it. Now I can laugh to my heart's content in the safety of my room. Bwahahahaha.

Museum Cafe @ the Ayala Museum

Had a business lunch yesterday at the Museum Cafe at the Ayala Museum (at the end of Greenbelt 4 by De La Rosa St in Legaspi Village). Menu's not so bad. Kinda pricey but it's good. Note before you order, always ask if it comes with rice (when it comes to meals) because some orders come with pita bread or some such. The tandoori chicken is spicy good!

Great ambiance, not crowded, spacious, and cool. Plus it comes with free wifi. Hahaha. Have laptop; will travel.

We were young once (and lazy)

This was during CMT and we lazy bum Air Police guys were lounging around. That's Joey Dungca to my right and Jojo Baterina, Bernie Marquez, and Jed Pantig to my left.

Second childhood or sentinel of liberty?

When I go to the mall, there are only a few stores that I really have to go to every time out: the shops that carry magazines, music and video, sports apparel, my few fave branded clothing, and toys.

I actually like the McFarlane Toys and Gundam models except that they cost a lot. Marvel Comics' toys may suck, but I love their life-size statues.

The View from Philamlife

This is the view from the boardroom of the KPMG offices at the 22nd floor of the Philamlife Tower. I facilitated a seminar for Central Luzon schools and that was a blast.

The view is just so cool and picturesque. Very much like the KPMG Bangkok offices. Just don't mind the traffic now.

Through the barricades

The University Belt has always seemed to me as an exciting (if not detestable) place... you know lotsa schools and students, malls, pink houses, and cool curio shops that you could once find in the nether regions of the old Virra Mall or the old Farmer's Plaza but are still around in this area.

But one thing that comes hand in hand are the occasional marches and demonstrations held here. Hence the barb wire barricades that are a fixture along Mendiola Bridge.
