The last time I saw Intoxication of Violence was in the 1980s in one of those Brave New World concerts. That was an awful long time ago and I don't remember much except for the Urban Bandits and the crowd going ape shit.
During last year's Eighties Enough show at the B-Side Collective, many of the Twisted Red Cross bands performed -- Urban Bandits, Betrayed, Wuds, Philippine Violators, and Collision. That was a great show made all the more memorable -- or infamous depending on where you stand -- for some punks destroying the metal barrier that separated the audience from the bands.
Anyways, during the IOV release party (that also doubled as a benefit show for old time punk Dennis Oi) at Mow's this Saturday, February 17, two more of those 80s and TRC bands -- GI and the Idiots and IOV performed. The line-up was damn good. A generations line-up, if you will, and featuring some of the more talented bands with a mien for good songs and lyrics.
The Beauty of Doubt, Ron Schlander's band, is one I truly enjoy watching. And they got a really good reception. Perhaps, the evening's best along with the two 80s punk outfits.
GI and the Idiots and IOV (with a different line-up with only bassist Radzon Medina and drummer Ruben Querubin Jr. left from the original band. lead singer Xeres Anicete moved to the US some time ago while guitarist Gerri Duenas passed away).
