I got invited to Mercy Labarda's (advanced) birthday bash at Side Street Cafe along Commonwealth Avenue last Sunday, June 17 (also Father's Day). Mercy is the lead singer of R&B band, Cool M, out of Singapore. I struck up a friendship with Mercy and her husband, Derf, after I reviewed their album, One Love, for an article on abs-cbnnews.com.
